Falls of Clyde – August 2017 Update

09 06.28 FOC tween deck

Looking forward along the tween deck of Falls of Clyde. At the center of the photograph is the ship’s mizzen mast. The green object on the deck by the mast is one of master rigger Jack Dickerhoff’s vises. At the left and right are fore-and-aft bulkheads constructed of steel plates. These bulkheads make up part of the sides of the ship’s cargo tanks. They were constructed by Union Iron Works in San Francisco, California when the ship was converted from a general cargo ship to a tanker. #tbt 28 June 2009.

David O’Neill continues the difficult work of securing international support and funding to transport Falls of Clyde back to Scotland. He recently received positive communications from a Scottish government official and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Both expressed interest in hearing more details about the plans for the ship’s future in Scotland.

Mr. O’Neill is currently developing a business plan that will hopefully answer their questions.

There are other details concerning Mr. O’Neill’s campaign that Maritime Hawai‘i is not able to report on at this time. Stay tuned.
