About

The Hawaii Pilots Association’s pilot boat Honolulu inbound to Pier 19, Honolulu Harbor. In the distance, Matson’s Mokihana approaches the harbor.

It is surprising how little the average Hawai‘i resident knows about the workings of the commercial waterfront, despite living in a state dependent upon shipping.

With the closure of the Hawai‘i Maritime Center in 2009, there is currently no place for the general public to learn about Hawai‘i’s commercial maritime industry and history.

Maritime Hawai‘i hopes to fill that void by providing information, stories, and images from the waterfront.

Please note that Maritime Hawai‘i does not provide any employment or commercial services.
