Drunken Sailor – July 1871

What shall we do with a drunken sailor?

As noted in the 22 July 1871 issue of the Pacific Commercial Advertiser:

Transcript:
LET OFF.—A sailor belonging to the brig Francisco, which came into port in distress on Monday last, was arrested and locked up for drunkenness on Thursday night. As the man’s voyage is a broken one, and he promised faithfully not to offend again, he was let off by the Magistrate with a warning.
