Drunken Sailor – July 1923

What shall we do with a drunken sailor?

As noted in the 29 July 1923 issue of the Honolulu Advertiser:

“Blind pig” refers to an establishment that illegally sold alcohol during the Prohibition era (1920–1933) in the United States.

Transcript:
Karl Yoloya, a sailor from the steamer Pacific, was treated at the emergency hospital last night for a laceration over the left eye and a cut on the right ear. Yoloya told the police, after he was patched up, that he was drinking in a “blind pig” at King street and Iwilei road when a fight started. He said that he was knocked down during the fracas and kicked about the head.
