This boat was previously JAVA SEA of Kirby and K-Sea, and originally PATRIOT of Interstate Oil Transport Co., which later morphed into Maritrans. She was built as a towing tug by the Main Iron Works in Houma LA, and was later fitted with a coupler to serve as an ATB tug. Boyer bought her in 2019.
Boyer is the only company I know who dares to paint the hulls of their tugs white, requiring scrupulous maintenance to keep rust from the chains and rubber marks from the fenders under control.
