The four-masted Japanese sailing ship, Nippon Maru, is currently on her way to Hawai‘i.

According to the JMETS website, her schedule (subject to change) will be as follows:

January 6 (Friday) – Arrive in Nāwiliwili Harbor (Kaua‘i)
January 9 (Monday) – Depart for Honolulu Harbor (O‘ahu)
January 10 (Tuesday) – Arrive in Honolulu Harbor
January 14 (Saturday) – Depart for Tokyo

The ship was launched in February 1984 as a replacement for the first Nippon Maru, which was launched in 1930 and is now a museum ship in Yokohama, Japan. Both ships were built as training vessels for merchant marine cadets.

She has an overall length of just over 361 ft (110.09 m) and is rigged as a barque.
