Kaiwo Maru to Visit Honolulu

Four-masted Japanese training ship, Kaiwo Maru, will sail from Tokyo on Wednesday, 5 April 2017 for Richmond, BC, Canada. After her visit there, she is scheduled to sail to Hawai‘i.

According to the JMETS website, her arrival/sailing dates (subject to change) are as follows:

May 19 (Friday) – Arrive in Honolulu Harbor
May 23 (Tuesday) – Depart for Tokyo

Kaiwo Maru was launched in March 1989. Like Nippon Maru, she is a sail training vessel for merchant marine cadets.

She has an overall length of just over 361 ft (110.09 m) and is rigged as a barque.
