Boom in Bad Weather

boom management in bad weather

PENCO workboat with boom passing by Pier 9, Honolulu Harbor. 10 February 2019.

Today’s stormy weather added a bit of a challenge to the PENCO workboat’s normal routine of towing the containment boom across the harbor. The crew had to maneuver the boat around more than usual to compensate for the effect of the strong winds and surface waves on the boom.

The boom was deployed around Holland America’s cruise ship Eurodam at Pier 2C during bunkering.
