RJ Pfeiffer (1992) Sails with Special Cargo
Matson’s RJ Pfeiffer (IMO 9002037) outbound from Pier 52, Honolulu Harbor. She was assisted by Foss Maritime tugs Mikioi and Pi‘ilani.
She was transporting the Polynesian Voyaging Society’s double-hulled voyaging canoe, Hōkūleʻa, to Tacoma, Washington.

Hōkūleʻa was secured on deck aft of RJ Pfeiffer’s house and surrounded by containers. Unfortunately, the containers on the port side blocked the view of the canoe. 16 April 2023.
