World Maritime Day 2023
The theme for the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) World Maritime Day 2023 is “MARPOL at 50: Our commitment goes on.”
MARPOL refers to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, which was adopted on 2 November 1973. It deals with the prevention and mitigation of marine pollution during routine ship operations and maritime accidents.
