Falls of Clyde – October 2025 Update
One of the board members of the Friends of Falls of Clyde posted on the Friends of Falls of Clyde Facebook group that the ship will be towed out of the harbor this week!
Wow. Just wow. That is sudden news. Originally, the target date was projected to be some time in November.
For me this hits quite hard. It seems that the old girl’s luck has finally run out after nearly 147 years.
If you would like to bid goodbye to Falls of Clyde, the last remaining example of a sailing oil tanker left in the world and former National Historic Landmark, there will be a ceremony at the area between Pier 7 and 8 on Tuesday, 14 October 2025 at 1200.
I am sorry old girl.

‘I will be there’ with you at Noon today, but in spirit only because there is no way to make the trip happen with just hours of prior notice.
This situation is NOT the outcome so many have worked to manifest. The entire process has become a sad close for an otherwise inspiring 147 year story for the Falls of Clyde.
Please use this gathering to respect the vessel herself, the group who can actually gather there today, and all the names who contributed to her remarkable history!
