DOT Harbors continues to apply pressure on the Friends of Falls of Clyde (FFOC) and David O’Neill to present a viable plan to remove the Falls of Clyde from Honolulu Harbor.

On what Maritime Hawai‘i feels is a positive note, Mr. O’Neill is finally able to communicate directly with DOT Harbors rather than sending messages via the FFOC. Hopefully, this will facilitate a better working relationship between the two parties.

Meanwhile, the FFOC states that it plans to remove ballast water from the ship. Other than that, it seems that there is no real action being taken by the FFOC. Maritime Hawai‘i is troubled that the organization is not working more closely with Mr. O’Neill and expending more energy to aid his efforts or to gain more community support.

Mr. O’Neill will be meeting the president of the FFOC, Bruce McEwan, in Glasgow, Scotland in early June. It will be interesting to hear what comes of that.
