Navatek I, once a familiar sight at Pier 6 in Honolulu Harbor, is gone.

The distinctive SWATH vessel was launched at Portland, Oregon in February 1989. After sea trials off the Pacific Coast and around Hawai‘i, she sailed for New Orleans, Louisiana to have additional work done to prepare her for commercial use. She returned to Hawai‘i at the end of January 1990.

Operated by Hawaiian Cruises Ltd., a subsidiary of Royal Hawaiian Cruises Ltd. (Pacific Marine and Supply’s passenger vessel operations), Navatek I took visitors and locals on lunch, dinner, and whale watching cruises.
