Kapālama Container Terminal Cranes
All-electric Noell gantry cranes for Pasha Hawaii/Hawaii Stevedores arrived safely in Honolulu Harbor on 19 August 2026. The three cranes were transported from the Port of Los Angeles on Foss Maritime heavy-lift deck barge Foss 3612 (2014), which was towed by Foss Maritime ocean-going tug Denise Foss (2016, IMO 9748576). They are part of the new Kapālama Container Terminal, which is currently under construction.
These cranes were originally purchased in the late 1990s by APL for its Pier 300 Terminal on Terminal Island in the Port of Los Angeles. They were phased out of service when new cranes were required to work the larger ships that were being built.

The cranes were initially scheduled to arrive on 14 August 2026, but Hurricane Lala dashed that plan. Fortunately, the conditions five days later were better. Foss Maritime harbor tugs Mikioi and Freedom assisted with the movement of Foss 3612 to Pier 19/20.
