Treasure Seeker to Meet Davy Jones
Treasure Seeker was originally built in 1974 as a fishing vessel. She was eventually converted into a “pirate ship” and was based in San Diego, California before being brought to Hawai‘i.
Hawaii Pirate Ship Adventures operated Treasure Seeker out of Kewalo Basin. In June 2013, the company began taking passengers out on cruises off Waikīkī that featured actors portraying the pirate crew.
Fast forward to 2026.
Treasure Seeker sat abandoned at a pier in the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor, looking very sad.
On 27 August 2026, Treasure Seeker was impounded by the state’s Department of Land and Natural Resources’ (DLNR) Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) and the Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE) since she was considered to be illegally moored in the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor. The vessel was towed from the harbor and will be prepared for disposal. At the moment, there is no available information on whether she will be broken up or sunk offshore.
Mahalo to George Schneider!
